Due to the Covid-19 virus outbreak, an official state order now provides property owners who disagree with the property value noted on their assessment notice additional time to petition to the Board of Review. The deadline to file an assessment appeal has been extended until June 5th versus the regular appeal deadline of April 30th. Click here for the full press release
If you disagree with the assessor’s estimate of value, you may file a written protest with the Board of Review which is composed of five members from various areas of the assessing jurisdiction. The Board operates independently of the assessor’s office, and has the power to confirm or to adjust either upward or downward any assessment. See Important Dates for time frame.
Please consider these two questions:
What is the actual market value of my property?
How does the value compare to similar properties in the neighborhood?
