2019 Construction Projects

Raymond Road Reconstruction at I-380

Project Description:

The project is planned for a February 2019 letting. Project limits are from approximately 600 feet north of the Indian Creek Road intersection north to approximately ¼ mile south of the Young Road intersection. The project includes the removal of the existing concrete pavement and placement of polymer grid, modified subbase and new asphalt pavement.  The I-380 overpass will receive new concrete bridge approaches as well as new intakes and guardrail.  The I-380 ramps will have new concrete placed at the Raymond Road tie in locations.  Once paving is complete, the roadway will have granular shoulder material placed and fresh rock will be placed in driveways.  New pavement markings will also be placed. Raymond Road and the I-380 ramps will be closed during the full duration of this project.  A marked detour will be set up and maintained during the project, see project map below.

Marquis Road Resurfacing

Project Description:

The project is planned for a March 2019 letting. Project limits are from Raymond Road east to Hwy. 281. The project includes placement of a 1” asphalt interlayer.  This will be followed by a 2” intermediate lift of asphalt and a 1.5” surface lift of asphalt.  Once paving is complete, the roadway will shouldered with 5’ wide granular shoulders and fresh rock will be placed in driveways.  New rumble strips will be placed at the roadway intersections and new pavement markings will also be placed. Marquis Road will be closed to thru traffic during this project.  A marked detour will be set up and maintained during the project, see project map below.

Cedar Wapsi Road Widening and Resurfacing

Project Description:

The project is planned for a March 2019 letting. Project limits are from just east of Hwy 218 east to Hwy. 63. The project includes base widening each lane 2’ wide with asphalt and then placement of a 1” asphalt interlayer.  This will be followed by a 1.5” intermediate lift of asphalt and a 1.5” surface lift of asphalt.  Once paving is complete, the roadway will shouldered with 3’ wide granular shoulders and fresh rock will be placed in driveways.  Edge line rumble strips will also be placed along the entire length of each lane. Cedar Wapsi Road will be closed to thru traffic during this project.  A marked detour will be set up and maintained during the project, see project map below.

Cedar Wapsi Road Bridge Replacement over the Cedar River

Project Description:

The project was let in December 2018. The project includes constructing a new 690'x40' concrete beam bridge to the south of the existing 651'x24' steel beam bridge. New roadway grade will be constructed to connect the new bridge to the existing roadway. Once the new grade is completed and paved, traffic will be switched to the new bridge and the old bridge will be removed. The project also includes rebuilding and expanding the parking areas to the conservation properties on the northwest and the southeast of the bridge. The conservation accesses will be closed during construction. Cedar Wapsi Road will be open to traffic for the majority of construction.

Cotter Road Bridge Replacement

Project Description:

The project is located on Cotter Road between Miller Creek Road and Eastman Road. The project will include the removal of the existing 25'x32' steel beam bridge on timber piling with a 39'x30' concrete beam-in-slab bridge. Cotter Road will be closed to traffic for the duration of the project with no marked detour.

Washburn Road Bridge Replacement

Project Description:

The project is located on Washburn Road between Ansborough Ave. and Acker Road. The project will include the removal of the existing 17'x22' steel beam bridge on concrete abutments with a 35'x30' concrete beam-in-slab bridge. Washburn Road will be closed to traffic for the duration of the project with no marked detour.

Fenton Road Culvert Replacement

Project Description:

The project is located on Fenton Road just east of the City of Gilbertville The project will include the removal of the existing 96" corrugated metal pipe and replacing it with two 72" reinforced concrete pipes. Fenton Road will remain open to traffic during construction with a on-site detour constructed to the north of the culvert.
