Poyner Road (West) Resurfacing

roject Description: 

 
The project is planned for a March 2017 letting. Project limits are from 6th Street in the City of Gilbertville east to Canfield Road. The project includes a 3” thick cold in place recycling of the existing asphalt surface.  This will be followed by a 1.5” intermediate lift of asphalt and a 1.5” surface lift of asphalt.  Once paving is complete, the roadway will be shouldered with 1’ - 3’ wide granular shoulders and fresh rock will be placed in driveways.  New rumble strips will be placed and new centerline and edge line pavement markings will also be placed. Project will be closed to thru traffic for duration of construction.

Poyner Road (East) Resurfacing

 

Project Description: 


The project is planned for a March 2017 letting. Project limits are from Canfield Road east to Jesup Road. The project includes 2’ base widening each lane of the existing asphalt roadway then placing a 1” asphalt interlayer.  This will be followed by a 2” intermediate lift of asphalt and a 1.5” surface lift of asphalt.  Once paving is complete, the roadway will be shouldered with 3’ wide granular shoulders and fresh rock will be placed in driveways.  New rumble strips will be placed and new centerline and edge line pavement markings will also be placed. Project will be open to traffic under pilot car for duration of construction. 

W. 27th Street Resurfacing


Project Description: 


The project is planned for a March 2017 letting. Project limits are from S. Butler Road east to just west of Union Road. The project includes a 3” thick cold in place recycling of the existing asphalt surface including the 6’ asphalt paved shoulders.  This will be followed by a 1.5” intermediate lift of asphalt and a 1.5” surface lift of asphalt placed on the mainline and paved shoulder area. Once paving is complete, the roadway will be shouldered with 3’ wide granular shoulders.  Fresh rock will be placed in driveways and new centerline and edge line pavement markings will also be placed. Project will be open to traffic under pilot car for duration of construction. 

Dunkerton Road Bridge Replacement

Project Cost: $440,669.85
Project Description:


The project was let in December of 2016. Construction is expected to begin in spring/summer of 2017. The project is located 1/4 mile west of Wagner Road on Dunkerton Road.The project includes removing an existing 40-ft steel beam bridge and replacing it with a 90-ft reinforced concrete slab bridge. Once the bridge is constructed paved concrete approaches and guardrail will be installed. Project will be closed to thru traffic.

Hammond Ave. Bridge Replacement


Project Description:


The project is planned for a March 2017 letting. The project is located 3/4 mile south of Schrock Road on Hammond Ave. The project includes removing an existing 34-ft steel beam bridge and replacing it with a 90-ft reinforced concrete slab bridge. Once the bridge is constructed the road will be resurfaced with gravel. Project will be closed to thru traffic.

​Elk Run Road & Raymond Road Bridge Patching & Overlay

Project Description:


Project if for repair of two bridges. One is located on Elk Run Road north of Dubuque Road the other is on Raymond Road over Crane Creek. The Elk Run Road bridge will be closed for patching and approach repairs. Elk Run Road will be detoured on Independence Ave. to Canfield Road to Dubuque Road. The Raymond Road bridge will consist of patching, an overlay and approach repairs. The detour for Raymond Road will be on Dunkerton Road to Hwy 281 to Cedar Wapsi Road. The bridge on Raymond Road was completed during the 2016 construction season. The bridge on Elk Run Road is expected to be under construction in the spring of 2017.


Watters Road Bridge Replacement

 


Project Description:

 
The bridge is located on Watters Road 1.5 miles west of Hwy 58 on the west side of Hudson, Iowa. Black Hawk County secondary roads crews will be removing the existing 35-ft concrete slab bridge and replacing it with a 35-ft concrete beam-in-slab bridge. Project will be closed to thru traffic.

Cunningham Road Bridge Replacement

 


Project Description:

 
The bridge is located on Cunningham Road 0.25 miles south of Big Rock Road. Black Hawk County secondary roads crews will be removing the existing 20-ft steel beam bridge and replacing it with a 8-ft x 4-ft precast concrete box culvert. Crews will be realigning the existing waterway to the east to improve the flow. Project will be closed to thru traffic.

Waverly Road Culvert Repairs

 


Project Description:

 
Black Hawk County secondary roads crews will be repairing several culverts along Waverly Road between Cedar Falls City Limits and Janesville City Limits. The work will be divided into 2 phases, north of Cedar Wapsi Road and south of Cedar Wapsi Road. Thur traffic on Waverly Road will be detoured on Hwy 218 to either Janesville exit or to Lonetree Road. Project will be closed to thru traffic.

Elk Run Road Culvert Replacement
Project Description:

 
Black Hawk County secondary roads crews will be replacing a culvert on Elk Run Road 0.5 miles south of Dunkerton Road. Thru traffic on Elk Run Road will be detoured on Dunkerton Road to Raymond Road to Hwy 281 (Independence Ave) back to Elk Run Road.  Project will be closed to thru traffic.

Eldora Road Culvert Replacement
Project Description:

 
Black Hawk County secondary roads crews will be replacing a culvert on Eldora Road 0.25 miles west of Hudson City Limits. Thru traffic on Eldora Road will be detoured on Hwy 58 to Watters Road to Grundy Road. Project will be closed to thru traffic.
