Monitoring & Treating
The Environmental Health Program is responsible for mosquito control in the cities of Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Evansdale. Health Officers monitor and treat standing water, maintain light traps, and participate in other surveillance activities designed to determine if mosquito borne diseases are active in Black Hawk County.
Standing water is currently treated with a larvicide which targets mosquitoes and black fly larvae. If you have questions or concerns about mosquito control or the mosquito borne disease surveillance program in Black Hawk County call 319-291-2413 or email the Public Health Department.
